Basically, Mage Land Online is an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online game). It is created by me, a 17-year old. However, just because I am really young does not mean it is bad! You can just try it for yourself and see if you like it.
However, I must warn you that I released the beta version not so long ago, so it still isn't very popular. You will most likley not see anyone else online until word gets around about this game.
As of right now, there is only 22 accounts.
Subscribe to the Mage Land Online site and I'll send e-mails whenever I update and/or add any new news.

As it turns out, the computer with the server has died, so don't expect to have the server up anytime soon. =(
February 13, 2009
I should have mentioned this earlier, but the server is down for some extra maintenence that is needed. It should be up before next week.

Bad news. Really bad news. A few days ago, my computer's hard drive just died. It turned out to be damaged internally and there is no hope of recovering the data on it. Fortunatly, I have saved a backup of all the information for Mage Land Online. However, it's an older version. I don't exactly have the money to go and get a new hard drive, so while the server is still running perfectly (anyone can still play it, nothing's wrong with it), there will most likley not be any new clients until I get a new hard drive for my computer. Furthermore, even when I do get a new hard drive, I will still have to make updates to the already outdated client I have backed up. Once I finish those, I will start new updates and release a client.
Having my computer's hard drive all busted up also means the loss of all programs I used to help me develop Mage Land Online. It may take some time to get those back as well.

New client is up!

New client is up!
January 25, 2009
So sorry, but the client wasn't released yesterday due to unexpected traveling to a realitve's house. So I'll just put it up tommorow Monday instead. I still have the official first client sheduled for release this Saturday on the 31st.
January 21, 2009
As most of you already know, I am programming Mage Land Online (No duh! Lol!). However, what most of you probably don't know is that I am looking for some staff members. Actually just one. I need a spriter (somebody who can create really good sprites and images), and I need a sound artist (somebody to make background music and sound effects). By only one staff member, I mean that I already have a spriter. As for the sound artist however, I am looking for a person who can do just that. If you would like to apply, then click on the "Apply for Staff" page in the navagation area.

Happy/Merry Martin Luther King Jr. Day everybody! Have a good day off of school and work. Though I hope that most of you know that Martin Luther said if they were ever to make a holiday after him, he would rather prefer it if kids stayed in school to learn than get the day off.
Now in other news, I will be releasing three new clients within the rest of this month. The first is later today that will have some minor tweaks. Nothing super special. The second on January 24 (this Saturday), and the third on January 31 (next Saturday).
The release on the 31st will mark the start of the very first "official client". So to speak, the 31st will basically be Mage Land Online's birthday. And thus, there will be a special event that I won't say yet. ;)
January 17, 2009
Not much news this Saturday. However, if I get around to it, I may put up a new client with one or two new things I have been waiting to release.
January 12, 2009
The new client is up! Not really anything new except for the scenery, but you can be the judge and see for yourself.
January 10, 2009
So sorry, but I had a very limited amount of time today, so the update is postponed until next Monday. Or Tuesday, for that matter...
January 9, 2009
I am completly changing the level and room design. Right now you basically play in a cavy forest like environment. By tommorow I will update the client again with largly spanned open areas. However, that does not mean it will be the only environment. I will also be adding caves in which you can explore. Another thing I have been thinking about is, to make a "monthly dungeon". That is, I would have one cave/dungeon change every month. Each month it will be completly different with different enemies and treasures. The only problem I have with this is making it "level appropiate" so that all players regardless of how strong or weak they are will enjoy it.
January 7, 2009
A new server is up! Less problems will persist now. Of course, you will have to download the client again.
January 6, 2009
Well this sure came to me as a suprise! A couple days ago I got a dedicated server! Now, this is just a "beta testing server" and at the end of the month on January 31, 2009 all accounts will be deleted. Let me give a chance to explain. I haven't exactly figured out what would be a fair way to distribute experience. That is, I need to do some math and other random stuff like that to ensure all enemies are as powerful as they should be. I don't want them to give out too much or too little experience. Same with loot. Those of you who have played Mage Land Online on the beta server probably found out that the drop rate for monsters is increasingly high. As of right now, there is a 50% chance a monster will drop something. That's pretty high. Also, I will be implementing gold/money at the end of this week. By then I should also have some shops made where players can purchase equipment. Some items will only be available in shops while others will only be available from monster drops. Even further, some items will be available from both monsters and shops. Another update concerning items would be quests. Upon completing quests, you may receive an item. I am planning on a few quests to have their rewards be a special item that you can't get from monsters or shops. However, these "unique" items will still be tradable and you can still sell them.

Unfortunately, it looks like the server won't be going up before the end of December. Oh well, not that it matters, but even if I do find a hostable server before the end of January, the first official release won't be until the end of January. For example, I could possibly even get an official server by next week, but I won't be posting the game until near the end of January. In the meantime, this is giving me great opportunities to add even more stuff before the first release. Besides all this though, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
December 13, 2008
Though I am making a lot of progress, the final first release is still nowhere in sight. However, I might be able to manage a beta testing stage where users would use this program called Hamachi. What I would do is leave Hamachi running on my computer as well as the server 24/7. Even so, I probably won't do this until the end of December.
November 25, 2008
Unexpected vacation this week. So sorry about this, but it means no updates this Saturday as well as I won't be able to work on MLO for quite a while.
November 22, 2008
Again, like last week, not much progress at all. However, something that will most certainly make the production go faster is the fact that I have broken through one of the main problems I was having when more than one player logs on. Unfortunately, due to this big hold up, the planned release date may be pushed back one exta week. That is, unless I work all day today and neglect food, rest, and my social life.
November 15, 2008
All right, so I haven't made much progress, since I am stuck on how I should work the spawning of the enemies, but otherwise, everything should be all downhill (which is good) once I figure it out. Now as for this week, I have my college classes (PSEO) to attend to, so unless I work even harder than I was expecting to, the game's release date may be changed from early December to Late December. Rest assured though, I going to release it before the new year no matter what since I would like to see myself creating a special "New Year's Event".
Heh... I'm doubting anyone is actually reading these things since MLO is still new. =P
November 11, 2008
All right, it's time for a very large announcement. I am completly re-creating Mage Land Online. Now, it will have dll's in it (actually, a dll, as in one). Some of you may be familiar with the "39dll". Yes, that is what I am using. The reason for this is because I have noticed many people can't get in to play MLO. They do everything they can, including all ports, setting firewall secuirty settings down low, etc. With the 39dll, it will hopefully provide those that are unlucky enough to get in to play MLO with the rest of us. The second reason is almost as good as the rest. Less lag. I have asked around, and players have reported low or little lag. This is suprising to me. However, with the help of 39dll, it will only allow more and more people to be logged on at once without the problem of lag. Or if there is lag, there won't be so much it's overwhelming. Just keep in mind there will be limits to the amount of people logged in at once. Currently, I am estimating about 100 at the very most.
In the above paragraph, I stated that I am completly re-creating Mage Land Online. Those of you that were the first ones to test this game out knewhow long it took for me to make it. Luckily, I have become very experienced creating MMORPG's with my run-in of the first Mage Land Online. I am actually expecting the first release to be in early December. See other pages in this web site for more info.
Features this new version of Mage Land Online will include that the previous one didn't will be:
And this is it for now. I won't be making any more updates to this website until November 15, 2008.
